Dr. Louis Liu is the Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in University Health Network and Sinai Health System. He is the Director of the Clinical Motility Unit in University Health Network. Dr. Liu is a dedicated and accomplished educator and researcher who has published extensively in the field of Neurogastroenterology and Motility and has won a number of teaching and research awards.

Presentation Overview:

Dr. Liu’s presentation will highlight the new therapeutic agents for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome presented in DDW 2022 that are available in Canada. In addition, he will describe the mechanism of action of these new agents, namely tenapanor and plecanatide, and the pivotal trial data of these agents in patients presented with constipation predominant irritable bowel syndrome.
